The new 2019 Water Conservation Calendar, showcasing winning artwork and poetry from the 2018 poster and poetry contests will soon be available at the BWS Public Service Building lobby and Kapolei Hale during regular business hours, while supplies last. Each month of the calendar, showcases a winning poster and poem based on the 2018 contest theme, "Conserve to Preserve." The calendar will also contain a coupon page filled with offers from our contest sponsors and an entry form and rules for entering our 2019 contests.
The 41st annual poster contest, for students in grades Kindergarten through 6, and our 11th annual poetry contest for students in grades 7 through 12, will launch in December 2018. The winning and honorable mention posters and poems for the 2019 contest will be featured in the BWS's 2020 Water Conservation Calendar.
Since 1979, the Board of Water Supply (BWS) has held an Annual Water Conservation Week poster contest for students in Kindergarten-6th grades to teach them about the importance of water conservation. Thousands of students enter the contest each year and since 1987, the winner's artwork has been featured in the BWS's Annual Water Conservation Calendar. This calendar, which is delivered to most Oahu public and private schools, all elected officials and community leaders, helps to remind Oahu residents to use water wisely throughout the year. Also included in the calendar are coupons from contest sponsors.
