Final Environmental Impact Statement for Haiku Stairs Published on January 23, 2020, in the Environmental Notice

HONOLULU – The Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) that will determine the future of Haiku Stairs has been published in the January 23, 2020, Environmental Notice by the Office of Environmental Quality Control.

The Board of Water Supply (BWS) along with their consultant, G70, spent just over 2-1/2 years working on this document.

“The BWS worked hard at evaluating each alternative thoroughly and providing an accessible process for public comment through small-group and public meetings with various agencies, landowners, community organizations, and individuals with an interest in this project,” stated Manager and Chief Engineer Ernest Lau.

“The BWS’s mission is to provide Oahu residents with a safe, dependable, and affordable water supply. Managing Haiku Stairs draws BWS staff, financial, and other resources away from our core mission to efficiently and effectively meet the water demand of our customers.”

The FEIS can be accessed at this link: http://oeqc2.doh.hawaii.gov/The_Environmental_Notice/2020-01-23-TEN.pdf or go to https://www.boardofwatersupply.com/community/haiku-stairs to access the FEIS.

For more information about the FEIS process, please contact Jeffrey Overton of G70 at 523-5866.
